Egypt partners with Denmark to invest in renewable energy
The agreement will also consolidate commercial relations

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation and Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy have signed a partnership programme 2019-2022 agreement with the Energy Agency of the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Utilities to boost Egypt's investments in renewable energy, according to a press release on Sunday.

The Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation, Rania El-Mashat, noted that the partnership agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between Egyptian government institutions and their Danish counterparts in the energy fields.

The agreement will also consolidate commercial relations and exchange experiences in the technology and clean energy field between the two countries.

The Egyptian-Danish partnership comes in line with the 'Global Partnerships for Effective Development Cooperation', a multi-stakeholder platform between multilateral and bilateral development partners launched by the ministry in April to achieve sustainability.

The agreement will also expedite the implementation of Egypt’s sustainable energy strategy until 2035, which plans to enhance financial sustainability and increase the share of renewable energy to over 42%.

The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Muhammad Shaker, commented that the ministry seeks to form a joint committee with the Danish side to serve as a forum for comprehensive strategic dialogue between Egypt and Denmark.

In addition, the Danish Minister of Climate, Energy, and Utilities, Dan Jørgensen, referred: "The Egyptian government’s strong dedication to renewable energy, combined with excellent wind and solar resources, offers Egypt a great opportunity to become a regional, green pioneer."
