Dubai – Mubasher: One of the vessels of Gulf Navigation Holding (GNH) has sunk while it was en route from New Zealand to China, according to the company's disclosure to the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) on Sunday.

The Japanese coast guard received a distress call early on Wednesday morning, 2 September, from the GNH's Gulf Livestock 1.

The company announced that one of the 43 crew members, the vessel’s chief officer, was rescued, and the Japanese coast guard is still searching for more survivors.

The spokesperson of the company said: "Our hearts go out to those onboard and their families at this time. We also express deep regret for the sad loss of the livestock on board. We are monitoring the situation closely and working closely with those involved in rescue efforts."

It is noteworthy to mention that on Wednesday, 2 September, the company's board has approved to appoint Sheikh Theyab bin Tahnoon bin Mohammad Al Nahyan as a new chairman of the company.
