DP World supported the launch of this technology

Dubai - Mubasher: P&O Ferrymasters, whose parent company is DP World, has launched an advanced track and trace service for its container customers in Europe, becoming Europe's first major logistics business to introduce this service.

DP World supported the launch of this technology as part of its objective to adopt digitalisation in the global supply chain and enhance the capabilities of digital platforms, according to a recent press release.

P&O Ferrymasters has cooperated with the leading Swiss enabler of transparent digitalised supply chains, Nexxiot, on this project.

Through the new track and trace service, customers will be regularly updated with the precise location of their goods as they are transported by rail, road, and sea.

Expected to be extended to over half of the company’s 4,000-strong fleet by the end of 2020, this innovation will decrease costs, raise efficiency, and increase the speed of information exchange.

The company will apply this technology to all its fleet by the end of 2021.

The Managing Director of P&O Ferrymasters, Thorsten Runge, said: "We are at our best in solving complex logistical challenges for our customers and this next step in our digital journey will enable the faster and smarter exchange of information across Europe."

Meanwhile, the CEO of Nexxiot, Stefan Kalmund, noted: "As one of our most innovative clients, P&O Ferrymasters can now access the business intelligence they need for full fleet coordination, improved efficiency and business process automation."
