World Tourism Organization to open regional office in Riyadh

Riyadh – Mubasher: Members of the executive council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) approved unanimously the establishment of a regional office for the Middle East in Riyadh city, Saudi Minister of Tourism, Ahmed bin Aqeel Al Khatib, announced on Wednesday.

Last week, the tourism ministry was delegated to communicate with the UNWTO and prepare regulatory requirements to open the organisation's regional office in Riyadh and to complete necessary procedures to establish a specialised international academy to train and develop the capabilities of those working in the tourism sector. 

On Tuesday, the Saudi cabinet approved setting up a tourism authority in the Red Sea and organising the tourism development council.
