Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Muhammad Saleh Benten, has announced on Monday new details regarding the gradual resumption of Umrah service during the second virtual forum aimed at enriching pilgrims' experiences.

The suspension of Umrah service will be lifted gradually during the coming period in line with the coronavirus precautionary measures, the minister stated.

Pilgrims will be allowed to perform Umrah through a mobile application that specifies the date and time available to perform the ritual by each pilgrim.

“Here comes the role of Umrah companies and corporations to market the programmes to citizens or visitors,” he added.

Moreover, the minister hoped Saudi Arabia to service 30 million pilgrims every year by 2030.

For his part, the deputy minister of Hajj and Umrah, Abdulfattah bin Sulaiman Mashat, said the merger and acquisition (M&A) deals in the Umrah sector will significantly reduce operating costs, raise operational efficiency, ensure diversification of services, while increasing assets and financial capacities.

In addition to the basic services provided to pilgrims, there is a plethora of services that can be provided by the private sector, such as support and logistical services, Mashat noted.
