Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Emirates Telecommunication Group (Etisalat) has extended its partnership with Ericsson, a provider of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to benefit from its charging system and 5G Business Support Systems (BSS).

The partnership with Ericsson is part of Etisalat's national 5G network evolution, as Ericsson and Etisalat UAE will cooperate in digital infrastructure to enable 5G use, according to a press release on Wednesday.

 Ericsson charging will be spread across Etisalat UAE’s entire network, enabling Etisalat users to control their costs through flexible packaging, bonuses, and discounts.

Meanwhile, The charging and policy solution will use Ericsson’s cloud-native and micro-services-based Charging Access Function (CAF), a new access component within the 5G Service Based Interface (SBI).

The Vice President of Charging and Fulfillment Operations Etisalat, Ali Khalfan Ali Al Shamsi, said: "The cooperation is the latest example of our commitment to continue investing in the most advanced connectivity infrastructure to meet the demanding digitalization ambitions of the UAE."

The Vice President and Head of Global Customer Unit Etisalat at Ericsson, Ekow Nelson, noted: "The addition of charging and BSS to our 5G partnership will enable Etisalat to enhance its position in the value chain and tap into new revenue streams while our flexible charging solution will power a strong user-experience. ”
