UAE - Mubasher: The shares of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) have been fully transferred to ADQ's ownership from the Abu Dhabi government, according to a press release on Thursday.

Abu Dhabi Executive Council has issued a decree to add the ENEC to ADQ's utility portfolio with immediate effect.

ADQ’s utility portfolio includes Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC), and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC).

The ENEC was established in 2009 to develop a peaceful nuclear energy programme to meet the UAE’s growing energy demands.

The CEO of ADQ, Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, said: "We are working closely with our utilities companies, including TAQA, EWEC, ADSSC and now ENEC, to advance our nation’s solid infrastructure that is vital for supporting the growth and development of many sectors of the economy.”

Meanwhile, the CEO of ENEC, Mohamed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, noted: "With the recent commencement of operations of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, we are supplying clean electricity to the UAE, and are committed to safely and efficiently generating electricity, supported by working with our UAE partners and stakeholders."
