Egypt’s government e-payments rise 223% YoY in July
Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s government e-payments increased by 223% year-on-year (YoY) at the end of last July, the Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, revealed.

This reflects the country’s continuous efforts towards the transformation into a cashless economy and the improvement of financial inclusion, Maait added in a statement on Thursday.

Several entities have been given a six-month period to provide non-cash payment methods at all outlets without any additional costs.

This covers tuition fees for universities, higher education institutes, and private schools, electricity, water, and natural gas bill payment, communications services such as the fixed line, mobile phone, and internet, air and maritime transportation, metro subscription, and land transportation services.
