UAE – Mubasher: Emirates National Oil Company Group (ENOC) has achieved 97 million kWh in power savings since 2014 because of the group's energy and resource management initiatives.

This amount is equivalent to the energy needed to power 8,600 houses per year, according to a press release on Wednesday.

The group has contributed to the reduction of 230,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions since 2014 and saved 477,000 cubic metres of water, equal to water volumes needed to fill 190 Olympic swimming pools.

Meanwhile, the group has decreased its energy intensity by 32% since 2014, with 5.8 million kWh of electricity saved in 2019.

In 2019, ENOC also recycled 17% of its total water consumption to cut freshwater consumption.

Moreover, the group’s thermal energy savings amounted to 3.2 million GJ, equivalent to 77 million liters of gasoline.

The group's initiatives to save energy are in line with the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 and Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.

The CEO of ENOC Group, Saif Humaid Al Falasi, commented: "ENOC has always recognised the importance of incorporating energy and resource management to drive the growth of our Group. Our efforts in ERM underpin our commitment to support Dubai Government’s mandate to promote sustainable business operations and to reduce the city’s carbon footprint."
