Riyadh – Mubasher: Sales registered by Saudi Arabia’s cement companies continued to rise in September 2020, recording a 23.5% upswing in sales on a year-on-year (YoY) basis.

Overall cement sales hiked to 4.58 million tonnes in September 2020, compared with 3.7 million tonnes in the year-ago month, according to Yamama Cement Company’s monthly report.

Local cement sales climbed by 22.3% YoY last month to stand at 4.4 million tonnes. Meanwhile, dispatches amounted to 181,000 tonnes, registering a yearly leap of 59.6%.

Southern Province Cement Company recorded the highest sales volume, with 670,000 tonnes of cement sold, up 28.4% YoY. Moreover, Saudi Cement Company followed with total sales of 539,000 tonnes in September of the year, compared to 448,000 tonnes in September 2019.

On the other hand, the Northern Region Cement Company logged the lowest sales volume at 110,000 tonnes, a yearly drop of 40%.

Production and inventory

Total production of Saudi cement firms reached 4.38 million tonnes in September to mark an annual growth of 17.1%.

Southern Province Cement’s production was the highest at 666,000 tonnes, surging by 26% YoY.

Moreover, cement inventory of Saudi companies went up by 4.3% YoY, standing at 1.28 million tonnes in the previous month.
