Financial position of banks rises to EGP 6.5trn in July – CBE
Total deposits grew to EGP 4.77 trillion

Cairo – Mubasher: The total financial position of banks operating in the Egyptian market, except for the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), increased by EGP 96.9 billion or 1.5% month-on-month (MoM) to EGP 6.5 trillion at the end of last July, compared to EGP 6.4 trillion.

According to the CBE’s monthly bulletin, balances held by banks in Egypt retreated to EGP 918.93 billion in July from EGP 923.71 billion in June.

Meanwhile, balances held by banks abroad grew to EGP 235.9 billion in July, compared to EGP 230 billion a month earlier.

In addition, banks' securities and investments in treasury bills (T-bills) rose to EGP 2.65 trillion in the seventh month of 2020, compared to EGP 2.62 trillion in the prior month.

Loans and discount balances for customers increased to EGP 2.22 trillion from EGP 2.20 trillion, while total deposits grew to EGP 4.77 trillion from EGP 4.68 trillion.
