Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Telecom Company (stc) and NVIDIA signed an agreement to build Saudi Arabia’s first cloud platform for artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning to empower the National Program for AI and build a roadmap for AI cloud infrastructure in the kingdom.

The signing came on the sidelines of the Global AI Summit, which kicked off on Wednesday under the theme of “AI for the Good of Humanity”. The two-day summit was organised by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), according to a press release.

NVIDIA is a major US firm that designs graphics processing units (GPU).

AI is a key driver of the fourth industrial revolution as it enhances technologies such as big data, robots, 5G network, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, redefining the global economy and improving the quality of life.

Through the partnership, stc will further promote the Saudi economy, support entrepreneurs and medical research, not to mention empowering the public and private sectors to accelerate and localise AI solutions in the kingdom.  

stc, moreover, announced it joined the NVIDIA Partner Network (NPN) and became the first NVIDIA-certified cloud service provider (CSP) in the Middle East region. The step will attract the world’s leading AI technologies to the kingdom, such as smart factory automation, edge-to-cloud computing, and autonomous vehicles manufacturing.
