Egypt's hotels expected to rebound in 2021 – Colliers
Hotels in Cairo are projected to have occupancy rate of 65% in 2021

Cairo – Mubasher: Hotel occupancy rates in Egypt are expected to rebound in 2021 from the drop in performance levels in 2020 resulted from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a recent report by Colliers International.

Hotels in Cairo are projected to have occupancy rate of 65% in 2021, while occupancy rates at hotels in Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Alexandria are seen at 43%, 48%, and 62%, respectively.

Cairo hotels will see a 94% year-on-year (YoY) rise in occupancy variance in 2021, while a 62% YoY growth is forecast in Sharm El-Sheikh, 69% surge in Hurghada, and 42% increase in Alexandria.

As for 2020, hotels are expected to be occupied by 33% in Cairo, 27% in Sharm El-Sheikh, 29% in Hurghada, and 44% in Alexandria.  

The annual occupancy variance is seen to decrease by 57% in Cairo, 54% in Sharm El-Sheikh, 57% in Hurghada, and 45% in Alexandria this year.
