UAE banks invest AED 279bn in debt securities in September
The total investments of the UAE banks increased by 1.2% MoM

UAE - Mubasher: The investments of the UAE banks in debt securities rose by 12.2% to AED 279 billion in September 2020, compared to AED 248.6 billion in the same month of 2019.

On a monthly basis, the UAE banks have invested AED 279 billion in debt securities in September 2020, up 0.8% compared to AED 276.8 billion in August 2020, according to the latest data by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).

Meanwhile, the total investments of the UAE banks increased by 1.2% to AED 440.8 billion in September 2020 from AED 435.5 billion in August 2020.

As for equities, the UAE banks have invested AED 8.7 billion in September 2020, down 2.2% from AED 8.9 billion in August 2020.

The investments of the UAE banks in held to maturity securities climbed by 3.3% month-on-month (MoM) to AED 103.7 billion in September from AED 100.4 billion in August.

It is noteworthy to mention that in August 2020, the UAE banks have increased their investments in debt securities by 2.3% MoM to record around AED 276.8 billion.
