Egypt inks light rail transit deal with Chinese alliance
The first phase of the project extends for 66.3 kilometers

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, and Minister of International Cooperation, Rania El-Mashat, witnessed the signing of two agreements for the implementation of the second and third phases of the light rail transit connecting between El-Salam City and the New Administrative Capital through 10th of Ramadan City with a Chinese alliance. 

The agreement was signed by China's AVIC international, China Railway Group (CREC), and Egypt's National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) on the sidelines of the third edition of "Trans MEA", according to a statement on Monday.

The first phase of the project extends for 66.3 kilometers (km) from Adly Mansour station until the New Administrative Capital at a cost of $1.65 billion, to be financed by a Chinese loan worth $1.2 billion and the remaining value will be financed by the country’s State Treasury.
