Mubasher: GFH Financial Group has acquired Bahrain-based Athena Private School for Special Education for over $250 million to strengthen its educational portfolio, according to a press release Monday.

With a capacity of 1,455 students, Athena is Bahrain's largest school in terms of capacity and number of educational buildings.

Athena, which started its operations about one year ago, is well-equipped for students with various special needs, including Dyslexia, Autism and Spectrum Disorders, and Asperger’s Syndrome.

The school gives English language, arts and mathematics curriculums in line with the US Common Core Standards while its science programme is aligned with the Next Generation Science standards. 

The Senior Executive Director at GFH, Fatema Kamal, said: "This is the 6th school acquisition for GFH’s education platform in less than 18 months.  Athena has already established a strong position in the education market for excellence as underscored by highly-qualified teaching staff and specialist experts, first-rate curriculum and a strong capacity for growth and competition."

Meanwhile, the Principal of Athena, Gene Rose Yanga, commented: "Already a centre for excellence in education for students with special needs, Athena looks forward to further building on the strong foundations we have established in order to provide and even greater number of students and families in Bahrain with access to our unique learning environment and approach."

GFH is listed on Bahrain Bourse (BHB), Boursa Kuwait, and the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).
