Egypt allocates EGP 5.5bn for Hayah Karima Phase I

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed, announced the allocation of EGP 5.5 billion for the first phase of Hayah Karima (A Decent Life) initiative.

The funding included EGP 3.3 billion in fiscal year 2019/2020 and EGP 2.2 billion in FY20/21, El-Saeed added in a statement on Sunday.

The initiative is aimed at improving the quality of life of Egyptians in the neediest villages in the country.

The quality-of-life index in the villages included in the first phase of the initiative advanced by 18%, while average poverty rate fell by 14%, healthcare coverage rate rose by 24%, education coverage rate improved by 12%, and sanitation coverage rate was up by 46%.
