UAE's holdings in US Treasury bonds amount to $36.3bn in December
The UAE's holdings of the US debt instruments declined by 10.8% in 2020

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE has decreased its holdings of the US Treasury bonds by 1.4% month-on-month (MoM) to $36.3 billion in December 2020, compared to around $36.8 billion in November.

On an annual basis, the UAE's holdings of the US debt instruments declined by 10.8% in 2020, compared to about $40.7 billion by the end of 2019.

At the Arab level, the UAE has maintained its third position among the US bonds' holders in December.

Saudi Arabia, which topped the Arab in holding the US bonds, invested $134.4 billion in December 2020, down from $137.6 billion in November.

At the same time, the world's countries have invested $7.036 trillion in the US Treasury bonds in December 2020, down from $7.053 trillion in the earlier month.

Japan has lowered its holdings of the US debt instruments for the fifth month in a row to record $1.256 trillion in December.
