Egypt's CIT sector seen growing 16% in FY20/21 – Amr Talaat
The CIT sector’s contribution to GDP increased to EGP 107.7 billion

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, met with a number of Danish digital technology companies via video conference to explore means of cooperation in digital technology.

During the meeting, Talaat reviewed Egypt’s digital strategy which includes increasing the number of digital government services to 200 by the end of 2021, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The ministry plans to complete the digitalisation of all government services by 2022, he added.

He said that the growth rate of the communications and information technology sector (CIT) in Egypt accelerated to 15.2% from 14.1% and is expected to reach 16% in fiscal year 2020/2021.

The CIT sector’s contribution to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased to EGP 107.7 billion (4.4% of GDP) from EGP 80.1 billion (3.2% of GDP).

In addition, the country’s digital exports rose to $4.1 billion from $3.2 billion.
