DP World reports 10% higher container volume in Q1-21
The logistics company has handled 18.9 million TEU in Q1-21

UAE - Mubasher: DP World Limited recorded 10.2% year-on-year (YoY) growth in container volumes on a reported basis during the first quarter (Q1) of 2021.

The logistics company has handled 18.9 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) across its global portfolio of container terminals in the first three months of 2021, according to a press release on Thursday.

At a consolidated level, DP World's terminals handled 11.2 million TEU in Q1-21, up 8.2% on a reported basis and 7 % YoY on a like-for-like basis.

The Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, commented: "Encouragingly, all our 3 regions delivered robust growth, with India and Australia being the key drivers, while our flagship port of Jebel Ali (UAE) saw volumes grow at 2.6%."

Sulayem added: "Looking ahead, while the near-term trading environment is positive, we remain mindful that the economic recovery can be disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, geopolitical uncertainty in some parts of the world and on-going trade war."
