UAE - Mubasher: Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, has inked an agreement with Huawei to establish the first phase of the largest solar-powered Uptime TIER III-Certified Data Centre in the Middle East and Africa at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

With a capacity exceeding 100 megawatts (MW), the new sustainable and carbon-neutral green data centre is the second solar-powered green data centre in Dubai launched by Moro Hub, according to a recent press release.

The Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said that the data centre will deploy Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), to provide digital products and services.

Meanwhile, the centre will enable global hyper-scalers to have access to carbon-free computing.

Al Tayer added: "The carbon-neutral centre supports Dubai's efforts to exceed the goals of Dubai's Carbon Abatement Strategy in reducing carbon emissions by 16% by 2021."

Meanwhile, the President of Huawei Middle East, Charles Yang, remarked: "There's been significant growth in the renewable sector, and we are optimistic that this agreement will reinforce our endeavours to implement and strengthen the adoption of carbon-neutral digital technologies."
