E-payments to state employees reached EGP 377 billion in 23 months

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government reported EGP 628 billion in electronic payments to suppliers from May 2019 until March 2021.

During the last 23 months, e-payments to state employees reached EGP 377 billion, while the government e-collection system processed 13.5 million transactions worth EGP 37 billion, the Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, said in a statement on Monday.

No additional charges are imposed when paying government dues electronically as the state treasury bears all the payment transaction fees.

The total number of transactions processed through the new cashless payment service “citizen payment” launched in May 2019 registered about 529,000 worth a total value of EGP 54 billion.
