The UAE has topped the region in adopting the ongoing energy transition

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE government has confirmed its commitment to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 70% and raise clean energy use by 50% by 2050, the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Al Mazrouei, announced during the inaugural Middle East Energy virtual. event.

Al Mazrouei said that the UAE has topped the region in adopting the ongoing energy transition and become among the leading countries across the world over the past 50 years.

The UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure added that the UAE was among the first countries to sign the Paris Agreement, which proves its commitment towards a low carbon economy.

In addition, the UAE is one of the world's top producers of hydrogen, which is part of the country's objective to reduce the carbon footprint through the demand and supply side alongside different energies and future technologies.

"Today, renewables alongside new technologies and services are transforming the business of supplying and delivering power. For this energy transition, a more responsive and interconnected power system is emerging," the Minister remarked.
