Ministry of Housing invests EGP 17.3bn in Assiut since 2014
A total of EGP 4.371 billion has been invested in New Assiut City

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Housing has invested EGP 17.307 billion in Assiut Governorate since President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi took office in 2014.

These investments have been directed into the implementation of developmental and service projects in the existing cities in the governorate as well as New Assiut City and New Nasser City, the Minister of Housing, Assem El-Gazzar, said in a statement on Tuesday.

An amount of EGP 10.156 billion has been invested to establish 56 water and sanitation projects in the existing cities in the governorate, El-Gazzar added.

The total number of residential units built in the governorate reached 8,233 since 2014, he noted.

Moreover, the ministry also constructed the 310-kilometre (km) Farafra-Dairut Axis at a cost of EGP 1.715 billion and the 22.6-km West Assiut Plateau Axis at a cost of EGP 1.44 billion

In New Assiut City, a total of EGP 4.371 billion has been invested since 2014, including EGP 1.733 billion in the housing sector, EGP 0.546 billion in the services sector, EGP 0.762 billion in roads, and EGP 1.330 billion in utilities.

The ministry also invested EGP 2.780 billion in New Nasser City, including EGP 1.28 billion in the housing sector, EGP 40 million in the service sector, EGP 750 million in roads, and EGP 710 million in utilities.
