Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia continued to reduce its holdings of US treasury bonds for the fourth month in a row in March, registering the lowest level in seven months since August 2020.

The Kingdom’s holdings of US treasuries declined by 1.6% or $2.1 billion to $130.8 billion last March, compared with $132.9 billion in February.

On an annual basis, the holdings of US debt instruments fell 17.79% or by $28.3 billion in March 2021 from $159.1 billion in the same month in 2020.

Saudi Arabia was the 14th largest investor in the US treasuries by the end of March this year, while Japan topped the world with holdings worth $ 1.24 trillion.
