Number of foreign employees at Egypt’s public, government sectors drops 15.6% in 2020
European countries accounted for the largest number of foreign employees

Cairo – Mubasher: The number of foreign employees at the government and public business sectors fell by 15.6% to 1,172 in 2020, compared to 1,388 in 2019, according to data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The decline was attributed to the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Tuesday.

European countries accounted for the largest number of foreign employees in government and public business sectors with 673 or 57.4%, followed by non-Arab Asian countries with 232 or 19.8%, data showed.

Moreover, Oceanic countries, including Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, made up the lowest number with 31 employees or 2.6%.
