Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) has announced an unscheduled shutdown of the Ammonia Plant, owned by its subsidiary Ma’aden Phosphate Company (MPC).

The plan was shut down due to a technical deficiency in one of its parts, which happened on Thursday evening 20 May 2021, and led to a limited fire that was fully controlled, according to a bourse filing on Sunday.

The financial impact of this unscheduled shutdown is limited and does not constitute a material impact, as indicated by the preliminary estimates, because this incident has not impacted the company’s ability to produce phosphate or fulfil its obligations towards its customers.

The company’s management is currently estimating the period that is required for resuming the plant and assessing the final financial impact of the shutdown.
