Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Supply announced that the country has a strategic reserve of rice enough for 5.5 months.
The country will be self-sufficient in sugar by 2022, thanks to Arab investments in beet agriculture and sugar production, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The North African nation has become 80% self-sufficient in sugar in fiscal year (FY) 2019/2020 and imported only 400,000 tonnes of sugar during 2021.
