Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) is expecting full operation of it ammonia plant in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022, as construction works are scheduled for completion in Q4 of 2021, Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

The company has carried out the pre-operation works of the plant at a value of $900 million, which is part of its $6.4 billion worth Phosphate 3 project.

Expanding the ammonia factory will raise the production capacity by more than 1 million tonnes to stand at 3.3 million tonnes. Ma’aden aims to become the largest producer of ammonia in East Suez Canal.

Therefore, the total output of Phosphate 3 facility will surpass 9 million tonnes of phosphate fertilizers, making Saudi Arabia the world’s second largest exporter of phosphate fertilizers.

Last month, the company announced an unscheduled shutdown of its ammonia plant, which is owned by the subsidiary Ma’aden Phosphate Company (MPC).
