Dubai – Mubasher: Mashreq Bank has appointed Fernando Morillo Lopez as its new senior executive vice president and group head of retail banking.

Lopez will manage the bank's strategy for the retail banking group (RBG), including its personal banking, Mashreq Gold, private banking, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Islamic and Emirati segments, and the digital bank propositions such as Mashreq Neo and NeoBiz.

With around 30-year experience in the financial sector, Lopez has occupied the position of managing director and global head of retail products and segments for six years at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore.

Mashreq's new senior executive vice president started his career in McKinsey & Company where he focused on banking, insurance, retail and digital across EMEA and the US.

The Group CEO of Mashreq Bank, Ahmed Abdelaal, said: "His appointment comes at a time of great opportunity as retail banking globally is undergoing an unprecedented change and Mashreq is at the forefront of driving the digital disruption based on the significant changes in consumer preferences."
