Mubasher wins award for feature on digital transformation in Egypt
Mubasher journalist Marina Gamil won the award for a feature on digitalisation and financial inclusion

Cairo – Mubasher: Our colleague in Mubasher, Marina Gamil, has won the third-place prize in a journalistic competition, on digital transformation in Egypt, organised by GoDaddy.

Marina received the award for her feature “Digital transformation and FinTech could drive financial inclusion in Egypt’s rural areas,” in which she tackled the prospects for facilitating financial services nationwide and integrating digitalisation in Egypt’s banking system to reach more people, especially in underserved rural communities, given the growth of broadband services and smartphone use, digital payments, and e-commerce.

The winning feature was chosen based on the criteria of being informative, easy-to-read, target-oriented, discussing new information from relevant angles, with the use of attractive visuals and multimedia, and proficiently employed statistics.

The judging panel consisted of Selina Bieber, Regional Director for GoDaddy in the MENA region, Khaled El-Baramawy, Digital Journalism Instructor at the American University in Cairo (AUC), and Nermine Seif El-Yazal, General Manager of Mount PR.

GoDaddy values the pivotal role played by media professionals to raise community’s awareness, regarding them as major success partners and stakeholders. Joining forces with esteemed journalists, we thoroughly tackled key issues on digital transformation, shedding light on our specially tailored services for the MENA region and our contributions to the Egyptian market,” Selina Bieber, Regional Director for GoDaddy in MENA, said in a statement.

GoDaddy Inc., a digital and internet services provider listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), held the workshop in July, in cooperation with DCode Economic & Financial Consulting to highlight the future of digitalisation in Egypt.

The workshop was attended by seasoned journalists from various media outlets to discuss the future of digitalisation and how it is transforming various industries in Egypt.
