Carousell aims to grow business, considers IPO

Mubasher: Singaporean online marketplace Carousell intends to consider all options to grow its business, including a potential initial public offering (IPO), CNBC cited Co-Founder and CEO Quek Siu Rui on Monday.

With the recent funding Carousell has raised, the company is “in a very well-capitalized position for what we need to do, and that really is because of the great support that we have got from our investors,” the official said, commenting on a US listing in terms of an IPO.

The IPO could help scale the business besides other options such as securing private capital from strategic investors and partners.

Carousell works on having a good investor base that can support the company’s long-term growth plan, the CEO added.

Last week, the company raised $100 million in fresh funds, which valued the entity at over $1 billion. The proceeds will be used to expand across more categories of pre-owned goods and markets, in addition to conducting strategic acquisitions to scale up.
