Egypt to host eighth Ministerial Gas Forum in 2022
The ministers will discuss climate change and global energy issues

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt will host the eighth Ministerial Gas Forum for 2022, a biennial event jointly organised by International Energy Forum (IEF) and International Gas Union (IGU).

The forum will focus on global economic recovery from the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic and the surge in natural gas prices in 2021, according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on Wednesday.

The ministers will also discuss climate change and global energy issues following the UN Climate Change Summit in 2022 scheduled to be held in November 2021.

The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El-Molla, noted that natural gas is the cleanest-burning hydrocarbon and a reliable source of energy.

Malaysia hosted the seventh IEF-IGU Ministerial Gas Forum Roundtable in December 2020 which discussed the unprecedented shock of the COVID-19 pandemic and the role of natural gas in strengthening energy security.
