Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has adopted a strategic plan to manage water resources with an estimated cost of $50 billion until 2037, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was cited by the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

The estimated investment value might increase in the coming period with the implementation of water quality improvement projects such as wastewater treatment plants and the development of new water resources, El-Sisi said during the fourth edition of Cairo Water Week (CWW) on Sunday. 

The president stressed the importance of these projects, noting that the country's water scarcity is growing as the annual share of water is 560 cubic metres per person, below the UN's threshold for water scarcity at 1,000 cubic metres per person. 

El-Sisi noted that the country aims to reach a balanced and legally binding agreement on the Ethiopian Dam in the near future.
