Dubai ranks among top 30 cities in 2021 Global Cities Index
The GCI evaluates the competitiveness of 156 cities

UAE - Mubasher: Dubai has been placed in the 23rd position globally in the 2021 Global Cities Index (GCI), according to the 2021 Global Cities Report published by Kearney, a global management consulting company.

The emirate has climbed four places when compared to the 27th position in 2020, as shown by the report which focuses on the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the related lockdown measures on cities as well as the beginning of an uneven recovery for some.

The GCI evaluates the competitiveness of 156 cities and determines their global connectedness based on five factors, comprising business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, and political engagement.

Meanwhile, the report ranked Abu Dhabi fourth in the 2021 Global Cities Outlook (GCO), advancing three places from the seventh position in the earlier year.

The GCO assesses how cities are creating conditions for their future status as global hubs by measuring four factors: personal well-being, economics, innovation, and governance.

Dubai was placed in the 15th position in the GCO, climbing three places when compared to 2020.
