Egypt-Jordan trade exchange hits $431m in H1-21
Egypt's exports to Jordan grew by 26.9% to $348 million

Cairo – Mubasher: Bilateral trade between Egypt and Jordan increased by 26.2% to $430.8 million in the first half (H1) of 2021, compared to $341.3 million in the same period a year earlier, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Tuesday.

Egypt's exports to Jordan grew by 26.9% year-on-year (YoY) to $348 million in the January-June period from $274.3 million, while the country's imports from Jordan rose to $82.8 million from $66.9 million.

The remittances of Egyptians working in Jordan reached $678.5 million in fiscal year (FY) 2019/2020, up by 3.7% YoY from $654.2 million, whereas the remittances of Jordanians working in Egypt declined by 37.5% YoY to $11.1 million from $17.7 million in FY18/19. 

During the first half (H1) of FY20/21, Jordanian investments in the most populous Arab nation amounted to $41 million, a leap of 485.7% YoY from $7 million.
