Egypt records 32% higher exports to COMESA in 9M

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt's exports to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) amounted to $2.3 billion during the first nine months of 2021, up 32.4% year-on-year (YoY) from $1.7 billion.

Egypt has recorded $901 million imports from COMESA in the January-September period of 2021, up 25% from $721 million in the year-ago period, according to the latest data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Meanwhile, the trade exchange between Egypt and COMESA rose by 30.2% YoY to $3.1 billion in the first nine months of 2021 from $2.4 billion.

Libya has led COMESA importers from Egypt with $711 million, followed by Sudan with $588 million, Kenya with $284 million, and Tunisia with $202 million.

Meanwhile, Sudan topped COMESA exporters to the country with $258 million, followed by Zambia with $251 million, Kenya with $173 million, and Libya with $68 million.
