Riyadh- Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers approved the regulatory arrangements of the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA), which will be responsible for enabling the sustainable development of the Red Sea economy for the Kingdom. 

SRSA will be chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al Khateeb, according to a press release on Tuesday.

The authority will regulate marine tourism activities, including cruises and yachting, while enabling other recreational activities like diving and sailing. It will also encourage investment and job creation while empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through their engagement in marine recreational and tourism activities.

Al Khateeb said: “The SRSA’s objective is to enable a thriving tourism economy throughout the Kingdom’s Red Sea coastline, with sustainability at its heart.”

Saudi Arabia aims to welcome 100 million visitors by 2030, therefore, “The Red Sea’s natural environment is one of our greatest assets,” according to the minister.

Earlier this year, the country established the Department of Maritime Activities to endorse the tourism sector in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
