Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) has invested $40 million to develop Camaguey’s water treatment plant in Cuba.

SFD inaugurated the project which will develop and replace existing systems in order to provide clean and safe water for over 300,000 residents of Camagüey and surrounding cities, according to a press release.

The fund previously earmarked $139.3 million for seven projects in the fields of health, water, and infrastructure sectors in Cuba.

SFD has endorsed the Cuban economy over the past years through the Saudi Export Support Program. In 2016, the fund inked an eight-year agreement worth $50 million with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment to import plastics and metals, in addition to agricultural materials and equipment.
