Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: Fertiglobe has signed an agreement with Masdar and ENGIE, a low-carbon energy and services actor, to launch a 200 megawatts (MW) green hydrogen facility in the UAE to support the production of green ammonia.

Set to be operational by 2025, the globally cost-competitive facility will supply Fertiglobe’s ammonia production plants at Ruwais in the UAE, according to a recent press release.

Under the agreement, the three companies will study the development, design, financing, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of the facility, which will be installed near Fertiglobe’s ammonia production plants.

The CEO of Fertiglobe, Ahmed El Hoshy, commented: "The project marks another milestone for Fertiglobe's green ammonia portfolio and follows the announcement last month of our new 100 MW electrolyzer in Egypt."

Meanwhile, the CEO of Masdar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, said: "This project will play a vital role in the development of the UAE’s green hydrogen economy, and represents the first concrete action taken by Masdar and ENGIE following the announcement last month of our strategic alliance."
