UAE's non-oil foreign trade nears AED 500bn in Q1-22

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE’s non-oil foreign trade reached AED 499.70 billion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022, an annual jump of 20.50% from AED 414.60 billion.

The trade exchange value in Q1-22was 26.30% higher than the 2019 results, close to AED 500 billion for the first time in the country's history, Emirates News Agency (WAM) cited the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC) on Wednesday.

China led the list of top 10 countries trading with the UAE in Q1-22 with AED 57 billion, followed by India with AED 46.20 billion and Saudi Arabia with AED 32.50 billion.

Gold topped the UAE’s commodities trading list with a value of AED 84.40 billion, representing 17% of the country’s total non-oil foreign trade, followed by diamonds with AED 40 billion.

Meanwhile, telecom devices were valued at AED 37 billion, while mineral oils stood at AED 24.60 billion.

In addition, the ornaments and jewellery’s trade amounted to AED 21 billion, while cars registered AED 19.50 billion in trade value.

It is worth noting that Abu Dhabi's non-oil foreign totalled AED 211.32 billion in 2021, up 5% from AED 201.21 billion in 2020.
