Ain Sokhna Port records EGP 2.71bn taxes, customs in May

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Customs Authority has collected EGP 2.71 billion worth of taxes, customs duties, and other charges at Ain Sokhna Port last May.

The total value of taxes and customs duties on the imported goods at the port reached EGP 608.56 million in May 2022, Ahram Gate cited a recent report by the Ministry of Finance.

The imported goods included wheat, sugar, legumes, maize, components of air conditioners, fridges, fans, fabrics, wood, mobile phone accessories, and car spare parts.

Meanwhile, the value-added tax (VAT) and other charges imposed on the imported goods at the port amounted to EGP 2.10 billion last month.

In addition, Ain Sokhna port exported goods including sand, phosphate, fibreglass, and marble at a total value of EGP 2.80 billion and collected charges of EGP 1.79 million.

Last September, the authority collected around EGP 3.17 billion of taxes, customs duties, and other charges at Ain Sokhna Port.
