Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Emirates Airlines said it will suspend its flights to and from Nigeria as of September 2022 due to the airline's inability to repatriate its funds from the African state, CNBC Arabia reported on Thursday.

The decision aims to limit the airline's losses and operating costs that continue to accumulate in the market.

In June 2022, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said that Nigeria is withholding $450 million in revenues generated by international airliners operating in Africa’s most populous nation.

Emirates said it will reevaluate its decision in case the situation over the trapped funds changed in the coming days.
