Egypt-Jordan trade exchange grows 18% in Q1-22

Cairo – Mubasher: Trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan grew by 18.1% during this year’s first quarter (Q1), reaching $261.40 million from $221.30 million in the same quarter in 2021, Akhbar Elyom cited a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Egypt’s exports to Jordan amounted to $198.90 million in Q1-22, an increase of 10.50% when compared to $180 million in Q1-21. 

Imports from Jordan to Egypt soared by 51.20% on an annual basis during the January-March period in 2022 to $62.50 million, compared to $41.30 million.

During fiscal year (FY) 2020/2021, remittances from Egyptian citizens working in Jordan registered $774.20 million, compared to $678.50 million in FY19/20, a hike of 14.10%.

In the meantime, remittances from Jordanians working in Egypt rose by 11.3% annually during FY20/21 to stand at $12.30 million from $11.10 million.

Moreover, Jordanian investments in Egypt totalled $56.70 million during FY20/21, down 2.90% from $58.40 million in FY19/20.
