UAE government's revenues grow 26% in 2021

UAE - Mubasher: Revenues at the federal level of the UAE government rose by 26% during 2021 to AED 463.90 billion, from AED 367.90 billion in 2020.

Likewise, social contributions also grew by 5% to AED 13.50 billion in 2021, from AED 12.90 billion in 2020, preliminary government finance statistics data for 2021 released by the UAE’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) showed.

The value of other revenues, including interests received, dividends, rents, sales of goods and services, fines, penalties, and other transfers increased by 24% to AED 251.80 billion in 2021, compared to AED 203.80 billion in the previous year.

In addition, expenditures went up by 1% to AED 402.40 billion in 2021 when compared to AED 399.50 billion in 2020. On the other hand, capital expenditures decreased by 57% to AED 20 billion in 2021 from AED 46.50 billion in 2020.

Current expenses recorded AED 382.40 billion in 2021, a rise of 8% from AED 353 billion in 2020. 

As regards net lending/borrowing, the results showed a significant increase at the federal level; while the results for 2020 showed a deficit of AED 31.70 billion, it achieved a surplus of AED 61.50 billion in 2021.
