Egypt’s annual core inflation up 24.4% in December 2022 - CBE

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual core inflation rate increased to 24.40% in December 2022, compared to 21.50% in November 2022, Ahram Gate cited recent data by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

The country’s core consumer price index (CPI) registered 2.60% in December 2022, compared to 0.20% in the same month a year earlier.

On a monthly basis, the CPI dropped from 2.70% in November.

According to recent data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the Arab state's annual headline inflation rate rose to 21.90% in December 2022, compared to 6.50% in the corresponding month a year earlier.

The country’s monthly CPI recorded 143.60 points in December, up by 2.10% from the previous month.
