Dubai – Mubasher: Egypt's economic growth is expected to reach 4% this year and 4.3% in 2016, up from 2.2% in 2014, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said.

Annual inflation rates are predicated to record 9.8% in 2015 and 10.1% in 2016, the IMF said in its Global Outlook Report for the region, issued in Dubai on Tuesday.

Egypt has begun to reap the benefits of its recent economic reform measures, but a number of challenges lie ahead, said Masood Ahmed, the IMF’s director of the Middle East and Central Asia.

Ahmed said the current government has set the country on the right track, but that Egypt may need support in the coming years, mostly likely from GCC states.
