The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) declined on Wednesday for the fourth consecutive session, as its benchmark index shed 0.14% or 7 pts and closed at 5112.07 pts. Turnover was seen at AED 246.48 million as 75.27 million shares traded and 1847 transactions were executed.
Market sector performance was mixed today as the industry and real estate sectors fell by 1.21% and 1.10%, respectively, whereas the insurance sector added 0.41%, and the banks and consumer staples sectors inched up slightly by 0.03% each.
Foodco topped decliners after plunging by 10%, followed closely by Fujairah Cement Industries (FCI), which dropped 9.66%, while Aldar Properties fell 0.99%.
Abu Dhabi National Insurance Co. (ADNIC) topped gainers, adding 3.09% followed by Gulf Cement with 2.84%.
Experts have noted that such performance is normal as investors await the return of liquidity to the market following the initial public offering (IPO) of Emaar Malls Group, added to the companies’ financial results for the third quarter of 2014.
A total of 33 companies traded today, of which 22 retreated, 6 gained and 5 remained unchanged.
