Ithmaar Bank, a Bahrain -based Islamic retail bank , reported a net loss of $8.8 million in 2014 , significantly less than the net loss of $79.3 million reported in 2013.

Net loss attributable to equity holders of the bank for 2014 amounted to $15 million, compared to a net loss of $80.4 million reported for last year.

Commenting on the results, the bank's chairman Amro Al Saud, said "The significant growth of the bank's operating income by 14% to $227.8 million in 2014 from $1999.9 million in 2013, is mainly due to sustainable revenue growth across most income streams."
