Riyadh – Mubasher: Setting the cement export fees to range between SAR 85 and SAR 133 per ton will "eliminate the cement export," Omar Alomar, CEO of Qassim Cement Company, told Mubasher.

He added that there is no Saudi firm that can export cement by these rates, which are close to the average price of the ton of SAR 105-110 per ton, adding to the transportation fees.

Almost all are joint stock companies and these fees and condition could not be fulfilled in time of low demand, especially with competitors selling the ton for $28, Alomar pinpointed.

Alomar called on the ministerial committee to reconsider the decision, expecting that clinker inventory will reach 30 million tonnes in January, which is unpreceeded figure.
